Coconut Oil vs Olive Oil

Fat. It begins with fat. And before you ask yourself, "Like human fat? from "Fight Club"?...I'll answer, well yeah kind of. My first blog post talked about the origins of soap and how Heel Hook Hygiene (HHH) fit. Did the ancient Babylonians really find out that the fat from human sacrifice when burned and mixed with ash created a soapy film that cleaned clothes and people? We can only speculate, I mean they could've easily made this discovery with livestock and other animals, right?

"The first soap was made from heroes ashes, like the first monkey shot into space. Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing." - Tyler Durden Fight Club.

HHH Soaps use two different types of fat bases for its soaps and no, human fat is not one of them :(.

Olive Oil and Coconut Oil and we are going to talk about the Pros and Pros of both.

Coconut Oil

Thanks to its high content of lauric acid, coconut oil effectively removes dirt, impurities, and excess oils from the skins surface. The fatty acids present in coconut oil contribute to the formation of bubbles, creating a lather that not only feels luxurious but also ensures a thorough cleaning by reaching deep into the pores. Coconut oil also contains natural moisturizing properties that help hydrate and nourish the skin, leaving it feeling soft and supple after each use.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is rich anti-oxidants, vitamins, and fatty acids. It deeply hydrates the skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. Olive oil-based soaps tend to have a more creamier texture. But don't let the texture fool you. It possesses exfoliating properties and the glycerin that is produced during the soap-making process attracts moisture to the skin, while gently removing dead skin cells and impurities.

So whether you go with Cocont Kani Basame or Half Guard Hemp, you are no doubt going to be left feeling clean and ready to step back on the mats.

Now get back at it.
